π Handwoven Moroccan Taznakht Runner β "Kharita" | 215 Γ 67 cm | 7β²1β³ Γ 2β²2β³
There is something deeply personal about this rug. It was woven by my aunt β a master weaver from the Taznakht region of southern Morocco β using a technique passed down through generations of Berber women. Every square, every colour, every stitch is a reflection of her hands, her memory, and her heritage.
In the local Berber tradition, this style is called "Kharita" β meaning "map" β because each square panel tells its own story, like tiles of a living, breathing world. No two Kharita rugs are ever the same.
THE CRAFT
Flat-woven (kilim style) on a traditional loom using 100% natural sheep wool β hand-spun and dyed in rich, earthy tones of cobalt blue, saffron orange, forest green, crimson red, mustard yellow, charcoal, and ivory. The geometric symbols woven into each panel are ancient Berber motifs β protective signs, fertility symbols, and prayers for abundance.
